वड़ा पाव | Vada pav | Wada Pao | Vegetarian Fast Food | Famous Indian Snack

Vada Pav, alternatively spelt Wada Pav, Wada Pao or Vada Pao is a vegetarian fast food dish originated in Bombay, Maharashtra (an Indian state). This is made by putting deep fried potatoes inside bread buns (pav) almost sliced in half in middle. It is usually served with green or red chutney and a green chilli. It quickly became popular as non expensive and a quick street food in Mumbai, but can now be easily found in restaurants and food stalls across whole India. It is also known as Bombay Burger becuase of its origin and similarity to physical form to a burger.

  • 5-6 boiled potatoes
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 tbsp or As per taste Salt
  • 1 tbsp Chaat Masala
  • 2 Chopped green chilli(optional)
  • Besan (Gram Flour) 2 Small bowl
  • Oil for Deep frying

Recipe for Vada Pav | Wada Pao | Bombay Burger

  • Mash Potatoes
  • Add Green Chill and add all powdered spices and salt and mix well.
  • Add water in Besan.
  • Don't add in one go.
  • Slowly add and mix.
  • Add Oil for deep frying in a Wok or Vessel with heavy bottom.
  • In the mean time with hands make small round spheres of mashed potatoes to make Aloo Bonda as shown.
  • Consistency of Besan should be as shown it shouldn't be too thick or two thin.
  • Dip the rounded spheres of Aloo Bonda in Besan as shown and coat them well with Besan.
  • Keep them aside till further use.
  • Prepare the remaining rolls in same way.
  • Once oil is hot.
  • Turn the flame to Medium or low medium.
  • Slowly Add the bowls in the oil.
  • You can fry it in batches of 2 or 4 depending on the wok size.
  • Ensure that the balls are not sticking with each other.
  • Once the balls become brown in color take them out in a plate.
  • Now take the Pav Buns.
  • Cut the Pav buns from the middle as shown.
  • Apply Red Chilli Sauce in middle of buns as shown. You can apply green chutney as well.
  • Put the Aloo Bonda i.e. Fried Potato balls in between buns as shown.
  • After putting Aloo Bonda in Pav Bun. Press it little.
  • Transfer Vada Pav to a serving plate.
  • Serve it with Sauce or Red or green chutney alongwith green chilli.
