Andhra Style Quick mutton fry is quick dry mutton or lamb starter recipe which can be made in few minutes. And it tastes heavenly standalone as starter recipe. It also goes well as a side dish with rice or chapati (Indian flatbread).

Cooking Ingredients

  • 1 pound Mutton, washed thoroughly
  • 1 small onion, chopped finely
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 10 green chilli, sliced length-wise
  • 10-15 curry leaves
  • 1/4 tbsp turmeric
  • salt to taste
  • Fresh chopped coriander for garnishing

Masala powder:

  • 1/2 spoon black pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 4 garlic pods
  • Crush all the above coarsely

To Marinate:

1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tbsp cumin powder
little salt

Recipe Steps for Ingredients for Andhra Style Quick Mutton Fry: 

  • Wash your mutton pieces and pat dry
  • Add ginger-garlic paste to it and add some chili powder cumin powder and cumin powder and some salt. Get the list of the same it's mentioned under marination
  • Coat the mutton pieces well.
  • Afer coating the mutton pieces well let it sit for 15 minutes
  • Take a pressure cooker and add mutton pieces into it
  • Turn on the flame on low medium heat and wait for 5 whistles.
  • After the 5 whistles allow the steam to settle down naturally. In any other vessel cook it till the mutton pieces are
  • tender
  • Also you can use any open vessel and you have to cook till the pieces are tender.
  • You don't have to add any water to it just put the marinated mutton button pieces into the pressure cooker and let the whistles come
  • Now take a pan and take oil or clarified butter or butter into it and let it heat and switch on the flame on medium heat
  • Once the oil is hot add our grinded masala and add green chilli and curry leaves. Let it heat for couple of minutes i.e. 2 minutes.
  • Add onions
  • Let it fry the onions start becoming to translucent or opaque in color
  • Now turn the flame to low and add that can contents of the cooker including water which mutton pieces has released
  • Now sprinkle the cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric and red chilli powder as well as some salt also rememeber you have also added salt while marinating also you can get the list of these ingredients and under cooking ingredients
  • Sprinkle it over and give it a good mix now let it cook for 10 minutes on low flame till all the masala coats well on the mutton pieces
  • While frying stir couple of times in between and give all the contents a good mix so that mutton pieces coat well on the masala well
  • Now sprinkle masala powder
  • add some fresh coriander leaves
  • give it a good mix 
  • Switch off the flame 
  • Now transfer the dish to the serving dish
  • You can enjoy your Andhra Style mutton fry with Roti chapati or rice or you can enjoy it as a standalone starter item you can serve it with some onions and some lemon wedges and some green chillies
