Chicken lollipop is dry chicken recipe or chicken starter recipe and is a very popular Indian recipe and in fact one of very popular Chicken recipes in Indian Chinese cuisine. lollipop chicken is, essentially a frenched chicken winglet where in meat is cut loose from bone end and pushed down creating a lollipop appearance. Usually served with Szechuan sauce, tomato sauce, chilli sauce or some home made chilli chutney.
You can enjoy this starter dish standalone with some cold drink and I am sure you are going to love it.
Ingredients for Chicken lollipop
Marination:
10 Pieces Chicken lollipop
1 Tablespoon Garlic Paste
1 Tablespoon Ginger Paste
1 Tablespoon Red Chili Paste
½ Teaspoon Black pepper Powder
¼ Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
1 Tablespoon vinegar
1 Tablespoon Soya sauce
2 – 2 ½ Tablespoon Tomato Ketchup
¼ Teaspoon Sugar
Salt (As per taste)
Frying:
1½ Tablespoon Maida (All purpose flour)
1½ Tablespoon Cornstarch
Salt (As per taste)
Pepper
1 egg
Oil (for deep frying)
Recipe Steps for Lollipop chicken
Wash your chicken and pat dry.
Take a clean big mixing bowl and add items mentioned under marination.
Add Red Chili Paste
Add 2 spoon Ginger Garlic paste or add 1 spoon of Ginger paste and Garlic Paste each.
Add Red Chili Powder into chicken pieces.
Add Soya Sauce
Add Vinegar
Add Sugar
Add Black Pepper Powder
Add half of the Salt which you are going to use.
Add Tomato Ketchup
Mix Everything gently and ensure that you are not breaking the chicken pieces while mixing.
Marinate for 1-2 hours in a refrigerator.
Before cooking take out chicken pieces well before time or defrost it to bring it to the room temperature.
Now Add one broken egg.
Add Corn Flour mixed with Salt.
Add All Purpose Flour/ Maida.
Add pinch of black pepper.
Mix and coat the chicken pieces with marinade.
Now we will deep fry them.
Take enough oil to deep fry in a wok(Kadhai) or any heavy bottom open vessel. Switch the flame on medium.
Once oil is hot add chicken pieces into it.
We are frying them in batches of 5 pieces.
Fry them till they start turning golden brown or become good brown as per your desired color.
Take them out leaving the extra oil behind. Take it out in paper towel to drain out extra oil.
Add another batch.
Coat with marinade and put into oil.
Fry them till they start turning golden brown or become good brown as per your desired color.
Serving Chicken lollipop
Transfer it to the serving plate.
If you want then garnish it with some fresh coriander and wrap in foil.
Enjoy your chicken lollipop with Tomato Sauce, Chilli Sauce or Chutney.
