Konkani fish curry or Goan Fish Curry is not very spicy like Chettinad Fish curry and has its own heavenly taste which surely deserves to be tasted few times in between. Goa under years if Portuguese domination developed a unique blend of taste of its own and its cuisine became an interesting and exotic blend of tastes.
Ingredients for Goan Fish Curry
Pomfret cut into 6 pieces each2 (400 gms
Onion chopped 1 small
Green chillies slit and halved 2
Salt to taste
Malt vinegar 1 tablespoon
For paste
Cumin seeds 2 teaspoon
Coriander seeds 2 tablespoons
Dried red chillies 3-5
Coconut scraped 1/2 cup
Ginger Garlic paste 1-2 tbsp
Tamarind (seedless) 1 lemon size ball
Recipe steps for Goan Fish Curry
Take a pan and dry roast the red chilli, coriander seeds and cumin seeds.
Roast for 2-3 mins on medium heat or till it starts releasing the aroma
Now take this in a grinder, add very little amount of water
Add in ginger garlic paste, tamarind paste, grated coconut,
Grind it to fine paste. Keep the paste aside till further usage.
Take oil in a wok.
Add mustard seeds. Let it cook till they start crackling or around
Add Onions and cook till they start turning brown.
Add in green chilli followed by chopped tomato and mix.
Let the cook till for 3-4 minutes on medium heat or till they start to become mushy.
Now add our grinded paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt.
Give it a mix.
Let it cook for 3-4 minutes or till oil start to seprate
Once oil start separating, add some water and give it a mix.
Now bring it to boil.
Add in fish pieces.
Give it a gentle mix. Make sure you mix gently else fish pieces might break.
Now leave it on medium heat for 7-8 minutes. Don't Stir in between. If needed do it very gently.
Now add vinegar and coriander leaves. Mix it gently.
Cook for a minute and then switch off the flame.
Transfer the Goan Fish gravy to the serving dish.

You can garnish it with some fresh coriander leaves
Serve the tasty fish curry hot with steamed rice.
